Homie and RoomGPT both restyle a photo of your room with AI, so they look alike from the outside. They differ in two ways. RoomGPT does one thing, room restyling, and sells it in one-time credit packs. Homie is a set of eight tools sold as a subscription, and each result can come with a shopping list, a paint palette and a cost estimate. RoomGPT suits occasional users who only want the picture. Homie suits people who are going to act on the picture.
Homie is our product, so this comparison sticks to things you can check: each tool’s own pricing page and feature list, as of October 2026. Where RoomGPT is the better fit, we say so.

Cost per image, worked out
RoomGPT charges per render, and the cost depends on quality: Basic is 1 credit, Pro is 2 and Ultra is 4.
| RoomGPT pack | Per Basic image | Per Ultra image |
|---|---|---|
| 30 credits, $9 | $0.30 | $1.20 |
| 100 credits, $19 | $0.19 | $0.76 |
| 200 credits, $29 | $0.15 | $0.58 |
Homie charges per period, and Pro allows up to 6 designs a day. If you use the full allowance, a month of Pro ($8.99, up to about 180 designs) works out to about $0.05 a design, and a year ($49.99) to under $0.03. At 20 designs in a month, the monthly plan is about $0.45 a design. For 20 Basic renders, RoomGPT’s $9 pack is cheaper.
The rule of thumb:
- Under ~30 renders in total, and you only want the image: RoomGPT costs less, and nothing renews.
- A project over several weeks, a few designs most days: Homie costs less per image, and the add-ons are included.
- Hundreds of renders in a weekend: RoomGPT, because Homie’s daily cap will stop you.
Where each one is better
Choose RoomGPT if
- you want to see a few rooms in a few styles and stop there;
- you dislike subscriptions on principle, since credits are paid once;
- you need a big batch of renders in one sitting.
Choose Homie if
- you want to buy from the result. The shopping list matches furniture to the render. The shop-the-look guide covers how to use it without overpaying for lookalikes;
- you are choosing paint. The palette is pulled straight from the image, and the paint palette walkthrough explains how to test it on the wall;
- you need a budget. The rough estimate is a starting point for a real renovation cost estimate, not a replacement for one;
- the room is empty, cluttered or outside. Staging, object removal and exterior redesign are separate tools. Decluttering a photo first also makes any redesign cleaner;
- you want to try a style from a picture you like. Style transfer applies a reference photo’s look to your room;
- you want to work on your phone.
What neither one does
Both tools produce pictures, not plans. Neither measures your room. Neither guarantees that a sofa in a render exists at that size, and neither replaces a contractor’s quote. Before you rely on a render for anything structural, read what AI interior design can and cannot do. For dimensions, you need a floor-plan tool. The comparison of AI room design app types sets out which category answers which question.
Both tools also do better with the same input: a level, wide, daylight photo taken from a corner. Five minutes on the photo improves results more than switching tools does.
If neither fits, the RoomGPT alternatives guide covers Interior AI, REimagineHome, Collov AI and Homestyler.
